I think I can uncomfortably say, that was the most difficult night we have experienced – period! It was 32deg C and 82% humidity when we went to bed last night. By 5am it was 27degC and still 80% humidity. Neither of us slept much at all.
The weather forecast for the next week, said rain every day. I was quite happy when Jen decided that there was little more to be gained by driving another 120k’s on the dirt road that was badly affected by a short period rain the previous day. A 30% chance of seeing a Jaguar was optimistic, to my mind.
Within 15min of driving I was yawning constantly and struggling to stay focused, Jen insisted we stop and and get 40 winks, which had a miraculous impact.
The drive out was eventful for the number of birds we stopped to photograph.

Somebody must have painted his head..!

Black Ibis?

A little out of focus.

That’s not a bird..:) Help me out Bridget..:
It’s 30+k drive north, back to the asphalt. Bypassing Cuiaba and heading due east for some time before turninging south. Once back on the BR070 it’s truck city. Endless trucks going in both directions. They obviously don’t go to church anymore. Scania, Iveco, Daf VW, Mercedes trucks. Interestingly, no Chinese trucks, yet! Most drives are good but there are some cowboys.
So Ash, it’s another motel tonight. Airconditioned and space for Poki. Considering we paid 110R to get stewed last night, makes it a no-brainer to invest another 90R and enjoy the comfort, and good wifi.
It’s now 9,30pm and I can’t keep my eyes open much longer. Jen has already succumbed after dropping the phone, falling asleep while doing Wordle..:)
In the home straight.
Poki is booked on a ship out of Montevideo on the 7th April so we have plenty of time to fill in with only about 3000k’s to go. Incidentally, the spare tyre we bought from Patrick, was dead flat this morning, I suspect a bead seating issue, We’ll investigate it tomorrow.
Nighty night..:)
