Day’s 211 & 212. Friday 28th and Saturday 29th March. 2025. La Chacra Holandesa. Atlantida, Uruguay. No miles.

Well, this is pretty much it! ..:(

The next time we drive Poki, will be to the port on Tuesday, April fools Day! For a meeting with Sebastian, the shipping agent, and hand over Poki.. Thanks to the wonder of paperless communication we did not have to drive into Montevideo to meet with him yesterday, Friday, to provide copies of passports and TIP. That was done in a half an hour online instead. Win-win.

After discussions about the pressure we would be on Tuesday morning. To pack up, have breakfast, load the roof boxes inside, and drive to the port, 1.5 hours away, by 9am. Jen contacted Sebastian, and the time is now, 2pm Tuesday.

It’s a bright start to the day, the clouds came in and threatened rain most of the day. A few spots in the evening but that soon passed. Thunder storms were forecast.

At 5pm they have a custom here in the camp site, where everyone meets in a covered area to introduce themselves and a first glass of wine is provided free. Jen enjoyed that..:)

The other campers and owners are all Dutch. Two mature couples in large campers are also ending their travels here, storing their vehicles to return later. Discussion is difficult, with us really imposing, forcing them to communicate in English.

There is a Canadian, Will Millar from Pemberton B.C, here in his converted Toyota Hilux, but he chooses to remain aloof. He’s been in South America for the past year and is shipping back to Houston in Texas. Before driving back to Canada. Taking his vehicle to the port tomorrow, Saturday.

Cricket.

New Zealand Black Caps are playing the visiting Pakistani cricket team in a 50 over game today. The game being played in Napier, doesn’t start till late in our day. By the time I turned the computer off at 10.30pm, NZ were starting to pile the runs on, after a very slow start.

Saturday 29th.

In waking at 4am, remembering that Logan and family may need our help. They are staying at our place in Rotorua on a visit from Portland in Oregon. They are visiting to see my friend Bob, Logan’s dad, in Palmerston North.

In the cricket, New Zealand had won the game by a good margin.

There was no need for concern, Logan was safely inside the house without setting off the alarm and causing a visit from security. Well done Logan, and thanks for the communication..:)

Today Saturday has been a lovely warm sunny day, and early, around midday, I made the decision to remove the roof mounted boxes, just in-case the rain that’s been threatening, arrives Sunday.

Once that task was completed it was time to clean the other side of Poki, and reattach to the Caranex.

Shorn of her roof mounted boxes, behind the tree, but with the deflector and solar panels loosely, attached still.

We have been slowly sorting what is to be packed in the single soft bag, and whats to be left in Poki. We are getting used to this routine and are thankful that we can do it in good weather.

As I write, the sun is dipping low on the horizon and will be gone in the next few minutes. Only five more sleeps and we will be winging our way back to the UK. It’ll be a month before Poki arrives. April traditionally brings showers but progressively better weather, in the UK. The month will give us time to decide where we are going to spend most of our time, in Europe.

Happy Birthday to Jen, brother Kelvin’s partner. A youngster till at 68..:)

Rugby 7’s.

It’s Hong Kong’s turn again to host the World 7’s, which originated there. The New Zealand women took out their title again, but the men were beaten by France in the Semi finals.
