Day’s 204 & 205. Friday 21st & Saturday 22nd March. 2025. Camping La Postergada, Paysandu. Uruguay.

Friday.

Relaxing is taxing…but something we are enjoying immensely. There’s a gene that’s saying, “what next,” but also one saying, “Nah! this is wonderful”.

Before departing on his motorcycle trip in the morning with Paige, the owner, Gerardo entrusted us with feeding his three dogs and enjoying the pool. Patricia, Gerardo’s wife is also away for the weekend. Heading to Montevideo for some retail therapy..:).

At 5pm one of the dogs, a Brazilian fighting dog, by the looks of him, invited himself into the Caranex and prostrated himself on the floor. He’s a brute of a dog with fearsome jaws, but a real softie. There was no moving, him so I decided to go down to where their food bowls are and pour a cup of pellets into each one. Within seconds the three dogs were down gulping the contents of their bowls.

Not long after there was the quiet sound of a motorcycle coming onto the property. Emma had been advised of our presence, and we, of her impending arrival. She’s a young Brit who has established herself on Vancouver Island but has spent the past five months touring around South America. Buying her cute Honda 190 in Columbia, brand new. She, like many others will leave it in Montevideo and is flying back to Vancouver the day before us, from Buenos Aires. Her intention to return and continue her exploring. at a later date.

Saturday.

Waking at 9am!!! Breakfast at 10am and then just in time to have a chat with Emma while she loaded her bike for departure. Love her attitude and worldliness. she reacted violently when I suggested Canada’s problems would soon be over as it was about to become the 51st State of America…:) Enjoy your ride Emma.

She has a serious number plate problem…:)

By midday the weather is forecast to change. Cloud has covered the blue sky and showers are predicted. It’s time to uncouple from the Caranex and drive Poki to a supermarket. Two nights will become four and food is diminshing. Jen’s eating it all…:). We see little point in moving from such a perfect location for now. Our sat-nav is telling us that Paysandu is 21k’s from here!! Just as well we can read the road signs. Sometimes it’s useless.

She forgot tomatoes in the supermarket, so a roadside stall, stop

At 3pm it’s 30.2deg again but a gentle zephyr blowing across the camping area. Another walk down to the pool is imminent.

We’ll head closer to Montevideo tomorrow. Lets see how that transpires.

Sport.

Cricket.

Pakistan are touring New Zealand and after getting a severe thumping in the first T20 match, reciprocated by thumping us in the next.

Alex, I see Man U had a 3 goal victory. Arsenal a one goal. Look out, we are on our way back to the top…:)

  1. Emma the English biker!

It only just occurred to me as I’ve finished the 1st leg of my trip that you have completed a round the world trip! What an achievement for both of you. Congratulations! So many wonderful and wild memories. Safe travels back to the UK. Ps. Thanks for calling me young!

    • Hi Emma, lovely to hear from you, young lady…:)

Yes to the end of one journey and looking for the next.

You,I suspect, just the beginning, and a wonderful world beckons. Full of amazing people and brilliant landscapes. Some challenges along the way but we need them for self affirmation. Stay strong.
