Today we get ready for a few days holiday…:) Won’t that be nice. We haven’t had a holiday for at least 3 months..;)
Making sure we have everything that we need, packed. Phone and computer chargers and adaptors, camera and charger…toothbrush…etc..
As Jen reported yesterday, we have tried to smarten up our act before being exposed to the fashion conscious. Lets hope we are not too dowdy for the jet setters, and feel like outsiders…:)
With not too much new to report. I thought I would touch on some of the little things we have improved on, with our camping routine, over the last few weeks and months. A little time-and-motion study, you might say. Small things like the way we fold the bedding. It’s made a huge difference to the time it takes to convert Poki’s interior from kitchen and dining room, to the bedroom, and back again. Nearly everything we have, is being ‘repurposed’! The bedding is stored in zip top bags that our car covers came in. They work perfectly. The mattresses I sleep on are two cycling Thermarest’s. Jen has a Royal Super-Duper Thermarest that is 4″ thick..:)
Setting up camp
Erecting the Caranex is another tedious chore, when arriving at a new campground. Sometimes with foul weather complicating procedures. In the past it has been a race to get the Caranex attached to the back of Poki and the poles in place. However, It has always been a battle to install the lateral poles and then tie the sides back to the latches on to the side fuel storage boxes.,
After all this time, we now have a different installation procedure. Peg the four base corners first, then install the four uprights, and then two laterals, tie the side panels, then peg the rear two, then the side guy ropes. I reckon we have shaved 5 or 6 minutes each time and we have a better shaped tent. We each have our own duties.
Rolling up the Caranex in the morning is another changed procedure. We now wrap the Carnex in the impervious ground sheet, rather than folding it up inside. It makes for a smoother parcel to insert in the outer cylindrical bag and stop it getting soaked when tied on the roofrack.. Saving time and frustration.
Petrol Coleman cooker.
The 10 litre Jerry can we store petrol in, for the cooker, is stored in the right hand box on the roof. It’s important to ensure the cooker has adequate fuel before erecting the Caranex. The tank lasts between four and five days. We now ensure it is filled and the jerry can replaced in the roof box, before setting off for the day. The recent cooker mods, seem to be holding up. Though we have not had a rough road to truly test them.
The route so far.
The day has been a lazy one. Packing the single soft bag we have carried since the UK, with clothes and getting Poki ready for storage for the next 12 days or so, to enable us the hit the road north again, on return to Ushuaia. Water tanks full. The outside temperature is 14degC. My feet have not warmed since getting out of bed this morning. The sun comes out for a few minutes, then there is a brief shower. This is summer.
Somehow I think it is preferable to the muggy heat of Cartagena, so I won’t complain…:)
There are now four campers on the garden. A German couple, who have been in and out for the kast few days. A Swiss couple and now an American couple. The latter two vehicles, rented. There are also several campers sleepong in their tents. The lady property owner is doing quite nicely, thank you..
Sport.
Cricket.
When I turned the live feed off, at about 10.30pm last night, New Zealand were 138-1 at lunch and seemingly steady, in the last test of the series. When awaking at 4am, they were 315-9 at stumps. So, again the wheels have fallen off. Most of the batsmen getting a reasonable start, but not pushing on. Good bowling and fielding from England.

Don’t be too unhappy with the weather bro, it is going to be up to 44c here today and 37 tomorrow. Up early and gave garden a good drink and now hunkered down with all blinds down and sun covers over the windows. Oscar duties cancelled today along with pageant so we both get the day off. Enjoy your holiday, mind you, I reckon your life is one long holiday. Not so Jen. Just saying.
How about we go halves with your temp..😊?
Just tried to WhatsApp u but looks like we are getting low on data! Should be fine tomorrow.
How’s the knee? Rest not aggravation is the only solution.
Little bit of fight from the last pair in the test.
What’s that brown spot on your nose?…:)
